Apple iOS - Adobe Flash Builder

With the coming version Adobe supports Apple's iOS. This development approach allows us to use standard AIR applications to target multiple devices, such as the iPhone or iPad. Now we will be able to bring data from different server platforms to your iPhone or iPad:  IBM Lotus Notes Domino, IBM Connections, Adobe LiveCycle und andere.

With the free code examples you can easily create your own apps for Apple iOS.

As our examples are based on the Adobe AIR Mobile Framework/SDK, all codes may be used almost unchanged on other platforms like the BlackBerry PlayBook or Android.

Take a look at our samples:

On the  Adobe Flash Builder site we found some interesting information to Apple iOS inside the "Product Details" - "FAQ" :

■ Will I be able to create mobile applications that run on iOS, Android, and Blackberry Tablet OS devices?
Yes. The goal of the Flex SDK Hero, Flash Builder Burrito, and Adobe AIR releases is to provide a common framework, tool, and runtime that enable developers to use a common code base to build mobile applications that run consistently on the leading mobile platforms, including Android, iOS, and Blackberry Tablet OS.

■ Will Flex standalone applications run on both the iPhone and iPad?
Yes. Adobe engineering is currently working on updating Flex, Flash Builder, and Adobe AIR to enable standalone, installed applications built with Flex to run on both the iPhone and iPad devices. Application performance and feature set are expected to be consistent across applications running on iOS, Android and Blackberry Tablet OS devices.

■ When will I be able to build a Flex standalone application that I can deploy on iOS?
Adobe is currently planning on delivering Flex support for iOS, including both iPhone and iPad in 2011.
■ Can I create a mobile application for iOS using the current preview releases of Flex SDK Hero and Flash Builder Burrito?
No. The first public preview releases included support for Android mobile applications only. The Flash Builder workflows and Flex components used to create iOS applications are expected to be consistent with the current workflows and components used to create Android applications in the preview releases.
